What you need to know before connecting your ASCOMM nbn™ HFC Broadband service.
What happens during the installation?
To connect to the nbn® on Hybrid Fibre Coaxial (HFC), Ascensa will assist you with installing an nbn® Connection Box (NCB). You will have the option to bring your own (BYO) nbn® compatible Broadband Wi-Fi Router or Internet Gateway or alternatively, we can supply you with a preconfigured nbn™ approved Gigabit Dual-Band Broadband Wi-Fi Router.
nbn® service installation process
Ascensa will arrange an nbn® technician to install equipment outside and inside your home. If your home or office has already been connected for pay-TV through a third-party provider, only the internal equipment known as the nbn® Connection Box (NCB) needs to be installed.
On the day of installation, someone over 18, whose name is on the account must be home to approve the location. If you’re renting, seek approval from your landlord before getting it installed.
nbn® equipment for HFC
All types of nbn® network connections that utilise a physical line running to the premises are considered fixed-line connections. An nbn® HFC connection is used in circumstances where the existing ‘pay TV’ or cable network can be used to make the final part of the nbn® network connection. In this scenario, an HFC line will run from the nearest available fibre node to your premises.
HFC connections require an nbn® network device to be installed at the point where the HFC line enters your home. This device requires power to operate and can be installed by an approved nbn® installer.
